Just When You Thought You'd Seen It All

Over the past few years, numerous different franchises have been given the film treatment. Some have turned out great (Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Christopher Nolan Batman films, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc) some bad (GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and some into abominations of cinema that deserve to be sent to the bowels of hell (Michael Bay's Transformers Series, Twiglet). However, when all the franchises were being snatched up, there was one franchise I never thought could even be given the film treatment.

Seriously, a Paddington Bear movie is being made? I thought that the lowest point was reached with Battleship but Paddinton Bear? I really hope that the film-makers don't try to modernise Paddington Bear in any way, shape or form which would destroy the spirit of Paddington Bear. The best thing for the film-makers to do is look at last years Winnie the Pooh and see how successful that was at introducing the character to a modern audience but without modernising the characters.

Interesting side note: I wonder how this film will go down in America. I mean, technically, Paddington is an illegal immigrant from South America and we all know how touchy the Americans are about this subject. I could genuinely see members of the Tea Party protesting this film for making the evil illegal immigrants look good in the eyes of children. I mean, look at how Fox News reacted to Tex Richman in The Muppets, there will be so much anger and rage from those people over this film.
